Remote control servicing.

Hi All,
It is very easy to service a remote control.
In order to check whether problem is with remote or TV, you only need a remote checkker, a small devise. Just plug the remote chekker in to electric point and operate the remote. If remote is working and sending signal tehn the led in the remote chekker will produce light and also give a "Krr...Krr" sound. If you dont have remote checker not a problem, even if you have a mobile phone(having camera option) with that also you can check remote. For doing that you only have to need is to switch on the camera option and operate the remote in front of pthone camera lense, if the remote is working you can see a light.
Once if you are cinformed that remote is not working , then check for the batteries. Try to operate other remote using same batteries. If you have spare batteries check the remote after inserting new batteries.
If remote is not working with new batteries, now this is the time to open t remote.
See if there are any dry solders, or any oily content collected on contact points. For clarity clean the board with thinner liquid.
Now if there are no dry solders , just replace the crystal oscilator. This crystal osilator is very sensitive and many if you drop remotes, this can get spoiled. Now it should work other wise ,
replace with IR-generator (It appears like a LED but ii is not LED, Please DONT replace LED for this).
Now you have done what ever possible things you can do.
As my experience After replacing crystal it should work.

After all these the remote is not working means please advise the customer to buy new one.

  1. Good and informative post! It often happens that remote control stops working suddenly even if you replace its batteries it won't work. This is a good solution to try out.
